SchoolNet Africa (SNA) and its
major partner in the Campaign for 1 Million PCs
for African Schools, the Open
Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA)
acknowledges the many people who
have contributed in different ways to the
compilation of this path-breaking course on
managing and establishing schoolnet-focused
technical service centres.
A special word of thanks is
due to Mr Ashraf Patel, Ms
Grace-Kaimila Ganjo and Ms Nomthandazo
Shoba from OSISA for their
consistent commitment towards promoting the work
of SchoolNet Africa with reference to ICT access
for African schools.
SchoolNet Africa also
acknowledges the principal role played by
Neil Butcher and
Associates who led this course
development process and especially
Ms Sandi
Sussman who has worked tirelessly
in completing what turned out to be a tour de
force under the direction of Mr Neil
Butcher himself. Thanks also goes
to Ms Cassie Janisch
for all her input and support throughout the
project.
This course along with its
training programme to reach 200 African
schoolnet practitioners and its concomitant
establishment of schoolnet technical service
centres across Africa, marks an important
milestone certainly in SchoolNet Africa’s
implementation strategy for the coming period.
The leadership of
SchoolNet Namibia and
Computers for Schools
Kenya deserve special
acknowledgement for their support and
collaboration in the documentation of their
experiences with establishing PC refurbishment
centres in their respective countries.
SchoolNet Africa also
acknowledge the role of
bridges.org in making
available substantial materials for the write up
of the technical sections of this course.
We also thank all those
schoolnet practitioners, experts and
policymakers who participated in the online
discussions set up by SchoolNet Africa recently
for their contributions.
